Kinsfolk, a story-driven adventure indie from developer and publisher Vinko Kodzoman, is expected to launch in Q4 2025 on PC via Steam.
In Kinsfolk, a new father revisits their past through short and casual adventures. You’ll explore a variety of worlds to uncover meaningful stories that can help confront the road ahead as a parent.
This single-player indie doesn’t have a release date just yet, but a demo is available now on Steam. Here’s an older post from X with a brief teaser trailer:
Kinsfolk’s poignant premise and gentle artwork quickly caught my attention! Grief and fatherhood are ambitious conversations to approach, let alone in gaming.
I appreciate the way the demo gameplay already wears its emotions on its sleeve, in an honest way. It reminds me of one of my earliest reviews, for The Forest Quartet, an outstanding indie that discussed loss via puzzles.
I’m also glad that the developer openly acknowledged its inspirations, since the similarities are clear, very likely to its benefit!
I really enjoy the scenic environments, which properly serve the reflective tone of the premise. I think the art design is terrific. The narrative is engaging so far, and I hope the full game offers a bit more on that end, though I expected Kinsfolk to end up pretty short either way.
It’s the right time for casual and hopeful stories!
These are the kinds of games that remind me why I began LBR. And, why I removed myself from toxic mainstream coverage, regurgitating corporate and AAA news as much as possible as quickly as possible. I am always open to stories like Kinsfolk, and hope you support it too!
