Solve Cozy Word Puzzles in Chick Adventure Rita

Rita, an indie puzzle adventure from developer and publisher SporkTank, will officially launch on Steam in Q1 of 2026! SporkTank announced the release window via X alongside a new gameplay trailer.

In Rita, players follow the life of a clever chick as she helps her cozy community. You’ll need to solve various word puzzles, from crosswords to word searches, to change the environment and progress. There will also be light platforming elements.

Rita has no release date, and I haven’t played just yet. However, a new press release revealed that a demo is coming next month ahead of Steam Next Fest. Here’s the new trailer from today!

As you may know, I’m a longtime fan of the puzzle genre. However, coziness itself isn’t necessarily enough for me. For example, it took much more than that for Mashina to earn a positive review on LBR. So, I’m pleased Rita found such a neat way to incorporate word puzzles!

Using the context of your adventure and immediate surroundings as clues? What an opportunity for creative obstacles, though they probably won’t be too challenging in a casual game. Judging by today’s trailer, both the puzzles and platforming should be very light.

I also enjoy the minimalist art in Rita thus far, giving it a charming style that fits the titular hero. The characters and their world already look plenty inviting, which is crucial in cozy games, where atmosphere is essential.

I was honestly surprised to learn that we’ll be following Rita until she has a “grandchicklet.” There’s an opportunity there for emotional beats about family relationships and legacy. Further, it could affect the puzzles and world in compelling ways, too.

I’m curious to see just how much Rita will explore that, if at all. Either way, I certainly look forward to the demo, so follow the game on Steam!
