LEGO Batman Open World Game is Coming 2026

So, TT Games is hardly the indie highlight LBR is known for, but the team just announced LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight for 2026! It’ll send players into an open world Gotham City, “inspired by decades of Batman films, television, comic books, and games.”

My wife and I are both lifelong LEGO fans, and every generation has a defining iteration of Batman. I have a personal attachment to TAS, Nolan’s trilogy, and even The Lego Batman Movie.

So, I just couldn’t resist covering this one! Certainly after enjoying the The Skywalker Saga, which already proved that TT Games can revisit stories and characters in fresh ways.

Here’s the new trailer, featuring both cinematics and gameplay, really kicking off the full swing of Gamescom 2025!

TT Games’ clever humor has always helped justify the nostalgia in these LEGO games. Instead of relying on nostalgia, it wields it for witty celebration.

Similarly, The Lego Batman Movie also showed that memory lane can genuinely help deconstruct the character. It also showed that there’s still plenty of fandom for older eras of Batman, too.

Between the new DC All In comics, Reeves’ highly popular incarnation, and an anticipated DCU reboot? This is the perfect time for a deep dive from TT Games!

Among other teases, the combat in Legacy of the Dark Knight already looks like an absolute win. TT Games’ comedy, sincere fandom, settings, and sheer volume of content tend to be the biggest draw. But the family-friendly combat can get a little tedious, at times.

Borrowing even the slightest from Arkham would be wise, given that series is widely considered Batman’s greatest combat gameplay. The promising new trailer alone makes it clear that TT Games is headed down all the right paths!

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be available on PC, as well as the next-gen Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch consoles.
