Create cozy dioramas in sandbox indie Dream Garden

Indie developer and publisher Campfire Studio continues to share new trailers and images of Dream Garden, a relaxing sandbox sim with some neat tools and gorgeous artwork.

In Dream Garden, players design their own garden dioramas using a range of decorations, textures, garden fill, and more. The only goal is to enjoy the calming mood, so gameplay offers lots of creative freedom and convenient tools like brushes for quick customization.

Dream Garden will release sometime in 2025 according to the Steam page, where you can wishlist now. While there are frequent teases on X, here’s a look at the official gameplay trailer:

I enjoy the diorama genre, and feel it’s the right mood to kick off LBR’s new year of discovery. It’s a busy genre, but Dream Garden stands out by concentrating on nature.

The lighting and textures are very effective, giving the game a cozy feel without having to rely on “cute” factor. Many other games in the genre prefer brighter, nigh cartoonish scenes that pop. While I can appreciate that at times, Dream Garden caught my eye with natural shadows and the like.

I’m also impressed by the tools! Using a brush to paint long rows of stone at once is easier than painstakingly adding them one at a time. But for those who prefer the task itself, players are still free to do so. It should just make setup and cleanup a lot easier, long-term.

You can also adjust the landscape, fine-tune seasons, or even the strength of your weather. That’d sure be useful for all the snow this week!

The true range of decor is unclear for now, though I’ve seen a decent variety thus far. Many of the decorations appear to be inspired by Japanese gardens, something I’d look forward to.

Dream Garden seems to offer a great balance of freedom and convenience, so sim fans should definitely watch for a release date.
