The Waste of Parts, a co-op strategy TTG from Sky Kingdom Games, launched a new Gamefound campaign last week as a Gamefound exclusive. For the uninitiated, this means that it’d be tough to find elsewhere, following the campaign.
In The Waste of Parts, players work together to defend a massive crawling mech through a wasteland in order to reach the “Sanctuary.” You’ll need to battle terrifying creatures, salvage parts to upgrade your mech, manage noise levels, and more with heroes that have unique abilities.
The Waste of Parts supports 1-5 players. Sky Kingdom Games released an official trailer last month with a brief cinematic and gameplay breakdown via YouTube:
I’m surprised I didn’t happen across this game until now, because the combination of steampunk and horror elements is just my style! I haven’t gotten to play this one yet, but I’m certainly hooked.
The story and its visuals feel like Howl’s Moving Castle was thrown into the Mad Max universe. Even the components are full of gears and rust, so the theme is strong and creative, here.
There are some obligatory mechanics of the genre, but I enjoy the way The Waste of Parts embraces the horror. The central mech and its world already seem delightfully weird, and controlling your noise levels could give players that Nemesis rush.
I’m curious to see if the enemies, environment, and other elements will evolve during gameplay to improve replayability. Also, if things will scale properly with player count, a serious issue in travel/survival games like Spark Riders 3000. Either way, Waste looks promising thus far!
Fellow tabletop fans may recognize Sky Kingdom Games for The Isofarian Guard, a narrative adventure game on the heavier side that earned strong reviews last year. For those who love a good strategy epic, support Sky Kingdom’s Waste of Parts campaign so you don’t miss out!
