Build & Survive After a Robot Apocalypse in Beacon of Neyda

In a new post on X today, Ghost Creative Studio announced its Kickstarter Campaign for action-strategy indie Beacon of Neyda. The campaign includes stretch goals for new content and features.

In Beacon of Neyda, humans must survive the ruins of a distant planet following a failed robot apocalypse. Players will explore different abandoned settings to build up unique bases with new technologies, then defend the base core from waves of oncoming enemies.

Ghost Creative Studio also revealed gameplay in a new Kickstarter trailer today. Beacon of Neyda will be available on PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. It’s also coming to Xbox Series X|S consoles.

Developer Ghost Creative Studio is a small team established in 2018, hailing from Argentina and Uruguay. Their previous games include platforming autorunner Pixi Poxi Autorunner Lab and fighting indie PunchBots. Those titles are both in early access, but remain largely overlooked.

I find the basic emphasis on exploration a compelling setup for base defense gameplay. It encourages storytelling, and today’s Kickstarter campaign does offer interesting new details about Beacon of Neyda’s story.

The lore is sure to help distinguish Beacon of Neyda from similar games like Kingdom: Classic. The devs openly admit they were inspired by that series, but it’s certainly a good jumping-off point for any indie.

The art design in Beacon of Neyda may be similar, but I do appreciate all of the smaller details revealed thus far. The weathered environments, animations, and colors create a solid sense of danger and age.

The Kickstarter campaign also mentions a dynamic soundtrack, an impressive addition for an indie game. Hopefully, a successful Kickstarter will help this game expand, since I see a lot of potential to subvert the genre.
