Indie developer and publisher Nagai Industries has officially announced inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories, a relaxing life sim set in a 90’s convenience store. Today’s announcement was accompanied by a new gameplay trailer, showcasing cozy tasks and interesting customers.
In inKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories, college student Makoto Hayakawa helps her aunt as a konbini worker. Players must complete mini-games to manage the convenience store, tend to unique customers, and make lasting decisions that impact their lives.
InKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories doesn’t have an exact release date yet. But today’s trailer teased a release window for 2025, with planned support for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. You can wishlist the game now on PC via Steam.
Developer Nagai Industries is based in Tokyo, Japan, and its official site mentions that “we’re fascinated by Japan and its strong cultural presence”. That sincerity really comes through in Inkonbini, the studio’s debut game.
Most life sims rely on farming, and although there are a few store management games, Inkonbini clearly has a distinguishable setting.
Aside from the location, the 90’s time period is a curious choice. I am instantly intrigued, wanting to see how such a niche setting serves the story and characters.
The devs’ official site adds that they are “drawing heavily from our daily lives crafting narratives that are moving, believable, and humane”.
InKonbini promises to focus on storytelling, with choices that matter. The Steam page mentions “a branching storyline with multiple dialogue options”. This should help invite players like me, who might otherwise overlook life sims about ordinary jobs.
Today’s trailer also teases a serene mood, with friendly, colorful visuals and a quiet soundtrack. InKonbini seems like a truly unique place to visit, despite its familiar mechanics. I look forward to seeing more dialogue, which is distinctly the heart of the game.
