Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game, a new tabletop adaptation from Go On Board based on the hit action RPG video game, was officially announced this week. Fans can follow the new campaign preview page on Gamefound.
The official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter feed released a post today teasing that the new game is “focused on immersive, fast-paced gameplay”. It will also concentrate on rebels and Edgerunners.
Go On Board did release a cinematic teaser that explains the fundamental conflict, and showcases the core box and miniatures. The trailer description says that players will “play out missions” and “fight” in Night City.
Cyberpunk 2077 fans already got a tabletop adaptation from CMON, via strategy game Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City. That game released to high BGG reviews, and got a Dice Tower approval from Zee just days ago.
However, Go On Board definitely has its own personality, and should easily distinguish itself. Go On Board also worked on The Witcher: Path Of Destiny, which fully funded its Kickstarter in under 5 minutes back in October 2023. So, the designers are comfortable working with iconic IP.
On the Cyberpunk 2077 Gamefound page, Go On Board revealed quite a lot of information by replying to comments.
Loosely translated, the Yrq_GoOnBoard account mentioned cooperative gameplay, unique player characters, and that corporations will be the main opponents. They also confirmed an impressive variety of supported languages.
The page itself teases that players will get to “explore Night City”. This suggests the game could feature more storytelling and adventure, in addition to combat. I’d appreciate more lore-driven action and Night City interaction.
Although fans haven’t gotten a peek at actual gameplay yet, it looks delightfully ambitious. And the revealed miniatures are gorgeous. They seem finely detailed and capture a real sense of motion, just like Witcher: Path of Destiny.
