Third-person bullet hell Project Tower reveals official trailer

Project Tower, a bullet hell shooter set in a third-person sci-fi world from indie developer and publisher Yummy Games, has a new official trailer today that showcases both cinematics and gameplay.

In Project Tower, the hero must escape a mysterious tower after aliens take over Earth and imprison every survivor. Players will need to master a variety of weapons and skills, solve puzzles, and even physically morph into other creatures to survive.

Project Tower is currently aiming for a Q3 2024 release, according to the official Steam page. It will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5.

Here’s the new official trailer from Yummy Games’ official YouTube channel:

Project Tower’s premise is a clever take on familiar bullet hell tropes. It indulges all of the same strangeness and chaos one might expect, but also features a surprisingly moody tone in today’s official trailer.

It’s unclear if these will successfully shake hands, just yet. The cinematics, music and narration are very solemn. There’s even a shot of a prisoner holding a gun under their own chin. While the zany metamorphosis ability looks like a lot of fun, it may not align.

But, there’s only a single trailer to consider, so it’s best to withhold judgment until the devs reveal more footage.

The imagery is impressive and hints at some compelling lore. I appreciate that the villains and their structures are otherworldly in an eerie way.

I’m also intrigued by the overall sense of mystery in Project Tower’s settings. The cinematics capture a terrific sense of scope, akin to a Hollywood blockbuster.

The game was built with Unreal, and it shows. The characters and environments already promise well-polished details.

Developer Yummy Games is a small team that previously worked on mobile titles like Tsunami Surfer.
