Neo-Noir FPS indie Dishop reveals first trailer

Dishop, a first-person shooter and survival horror game set in a neo-noir world from indie developer Avtrix Games, revealed its very first trailer today. Although it didn’t seem to feature gameplay, it did showcase the basic premise and world.

The devs haven’t confirmed many details about the game. However, a recent post on Twitter explains the premise and story a bit more. Previous posts have also teased upcoming characters and equipment.

In Dishop, a convict must survive a dystopian world using both action and stealth. Players will also have the choice to “redeem or remain a criminal”.

Dishop does not have a release window, nor a Steam page for wishlisting, at this time. Since it was built with Unreal Engine, Dishop is likely headed for PC. But Avtrix Games did not confirm supported platforms.

Today’s reveal trailer features some impressive artwork. Although Dishop’s imagery probably feels very familiar for fans of the genre, the art design also does a great job of defining its world with smaller details.

It’s clear that Dishop is full of attitude, with strange enemies and a compelling world that looks like a brutal disaster zone. I’d love to see the game lean squarely into the bizarre.

It seems like the devs had a lot of ideas, and then fit them all into a single package. Juggling that much can sometimes compromise a game. The various pulpy concepts are natural complements, though.

Hopefully, now that the cinematic trailer is out, some gameplay will be on the way soon. I am very curious about the narrative itself, as Dishop appears to be story-driven.

I appreciate the opportunity to decide the protagonist’s fate, which will likely result in totally different endings.

Dishop looks surprisingly polished already. If it is accompanied by great gameplay, this could be a standout horror indie.
