Strategy RPG The Way of Wrath reveals key features and 2024 plans

Developer Animmal has released a new dev update for their epic Bronze Age strategy indie The Way Of Wrath. The devs explain all of the central features they made progress on, as well as plans for the future.

In The Way Of Wrath, players must lead their tribe in a frozen valley, while also surviving the elements and preparing for an inevitable battle within just ten days. You’ll have to master tactical combat, diplomacy, and more.

The Way Of Wrath is currently expected to launch in 2024. It will be available on PC via Steam and GOG.

According to today’s update, the devs will “announce the exact release date in a few months”.

Today’s dev update mentions traditional visual and audio improvements, as well as larger features. Players will appreciate the chance to alternate between turn-based combat and real-time with pause.

They also plan to work on an “advanced pet system and a new mastery exploration skill tree” next year, among other features.

The Way Of Wrath promises an impressive flexibility and strategic depth. Players have a significant relationship with their tribe, and you can even choose from unique origins so the people will view you differently.

However, there’s still a great sense of urgency, thanks to the survival mechanics and ticking clock of total destruction. So, the game doesn’t rely so much on open-ended content. It will also be easier to replay the game sooner than later, to explore new strategies.

The potent sense of culture and realistic inspiration should go a long way for fans of the genre. It’s clear the devs took great care to make the world of The Way Of Wrath feel tactile. For example, every single NPC has their own personality and opinons.

The Way Of Wrath is quickly shaping up to be a tighter, indie follow-up for fans of Baldur’s Gate 3.
