Platformer indie Pre Dusk reveals new teaser, launch discount

Pre Dusk, a 2D action platformer from indie developer and publisher Okba Amrate, has released another gameplay teaser trailer in a new tweet today. The tweet also notes the game will have a discount at launch, encouraging fans to wishlist.

In Pre Dusk, players must lead Ray, a small child, through a variety of mysterious and dangerous environments. There are five levels to explore, each with their own challenges. You’ll have to unlock new abilities and weapons to survive unique enemies and boss fights.

Pre Dusk was delayed earlier this month, but it’s still “close to launching” according to a recent update on the official Steam page. Here’s the new tweet and teaser from Amrate’s official feed:

Pre Dusk is almost certain to draw comparisons to Limbo, both in its premise and the moody strangeness of its world. It seems to have a similarly urgent pace, too.

However, Pre Dusk also shares the same determination to distinguish itself. Its imagery is both distinct and captivating, and even today’s small teaser whisks you away.

The art design is atmospheric, thematic, and unusual in all the best ways. I was particularly impressed by the surreal ending of today’s teaser.

The Steam page also mentions that Pre Dusk features hand-drawn artwork. The long-term effort really shines through, since the characters and stages already have a lot of personality.

Although some of the animation seems a little stiff right now, and the sound effects aren’t so crisp, Pre Dusk is a small game. Besides, the platforming obstacles look promising enough. Other glimpses of gameplay have showcased more verticality, as in last year’s trailer:

Pre Dusk’s trailers immediately gripped me with its mixture of cryptic music and abstract elements. It has lots of potential, and I appreciate that the developer is taking all the time they need for a smooth launch.
