Tactical RPG Zoria: Age of Shattering sets March release date

Zoria: Age of Shattering, a turn-based RPG indie from Tiny Trinket Games, will officially launch on March 7th, 2024.

This was announced with a new release date trailer, featuring a montage of various gameplay mechanics. The game was delayed last August following QA tests, and was originally expected on October 5th, 2023.

Zoria: Age of Shattering is a single-player experience, where you must command a team through a high fantasy world that has become overrun by hellspawn. You’ll need to explore, upgrade your team and base, manage equipment, and excel in strategic turn-based combat.

Zoria: Age of Shattering will be available on PC via GOG, the Epic Games Store, and Steam. You can watch today’s full release date trailer on the Anshar Publishing YouTube channel:

Zoria appears to be filled with a lot of familiar fantasy fare. However, the official Steam page does mention the game will emphasize storytelling. Ideally, its lore will be inventive and distinguishable enough.

Surprisingly, Zoria won’t feature multiplayer, let alone cooperative gameplay. That’s a shame, certainly for those seeking the collaborative elements of Baldur’s Gate.

But it’s clear this solitary approach is meant to underline your responsibility as a commander. Fortunately, it is also Zoria’s tactical side that truly interests me.

Aside from a variety of management systems, the combat sounds compelling. There are many small, thoughtful details, which seem to be smartly woven together to encourage strategy in unexpected places.

For example, proper base-building rewards you with resources for use on the battlefield. You can even send parties out on automatic quests from your base. But I’m also intrigued by potential “attack patterns” and the opportunity to utilize the environment itself during combat.

The sheer volume of content and mechanics already seem impressive, especially for an indie. Zoria: Age of Shattering promises to be a comprehensive love letter to the genre.
