Dueling card game Age Of EON joins Kickstarter, reveals teaser trailer

Age of EON, a competitive strategy card game for two players from Giza Games, has released a Kickstarter page today. While the campaign is not live yet, you can now follow the project to be notified. A teaser trailer was also recently revealed last week, which sets up the fantasy world and showcases some gameplay mechanics.

In Age of EON, players select from four different ancient empires, and fight for an Eternal Stone. Games are played out over a series of short, fast-paced battles, using abilities and strategy to control multiple locations.

You can watch last week’s new teaser trailer for Age of EON on Giza Games’ YouTube channel:

This is a card game that I could have easily overlooked, due to its familiar fantasy setting and imagery. However, the market is primarily oversaturated with card games founded on trading or collecting.

Age of EON wisely aimed for a contained experience, which also lines up with its intended pacing and weight. That will definitely help Age of EON in the long run. It’s meant to be learned and played swiftly.

Each of the available empires appears to have their own meta, and distinguish themselves by the elements. I can’t help but think of the Avatar nations when games do this.

But I do enjoy the sense of age in the art design, which helps subvert some of its conventional themes. The hand-painted qualities of the artwork add compelling elements of mythology. The designer’s interest in ancient civilizations is refreshing.

Marvel Snap has really popularized area control, so players should enjoy the land objectives. But Age of EON has a fun twist, where your winning characters carry over into subsequent new battles throughout a game.

I appreciate the sincere passion behind this little game, which would likely thrive in a fast-paced lineup on game night.
