FROGGONIT, a humorous adventure about cute animals from solo developer and publisher Fuz Games, has released a series of exciting new teasers on Twitter over the last week.
These teasers showcase some of the upcoming music, characters, features, and its cheerful sense of humor. One post mentions that the dev is currently working on a new Steam trailer:
In FROGGONIT, an adventurous frog accidentally summons a villain who shrouds their island in darkness. Players will need to restore the light by exploring, solving puzzles and completing mini-games. You’ll also need to collect cards to use in turn-based battles.
FROGGONIT has no release date, but it will be available on PC, and you can wishlist on Steam now. For a gameplay breakdown, you can watch FROGGONIT’s original announcement trailer:
Fuz Games previously made RESTLESS SOUL, another adventure RPG that received a lot of praise but remains sorely overlooked. It’s about a soul trying to navigate the afterlife in order to return to the living. It’s certainly worth revisiting for the Halloween season on PC or Switch, and it quite resembles FROGGONIT.
For example, FROGGONIT promises the same genuine laughs. The dialogue, storytelling, and visuals all seem naturally funny instead of cringeworthy. Many comparable indies succumb to the latter by trying too hard.
FROGGONIT also appears to have the same varied gameplay as RESTLESS SOUL, making it quite unpredictable.
I appreciate the nuanced retro aspects of FROGGONIT, such as the way its world is revealed as you progress. It sort of harkens back to 80’s classic Adventure and old school text-based games.
Fuz Games has only gradually rolled out tidbits of information to cover, but I couldn’t wait for the new Steam trailer as an excuse to discuss this one. FROGGONIT has a snappy tone, excellent pixel art, and the potential to subvert expectations.
