A Webbing Journey, a friendly 3D puzzle platformer about a cute spider from indie developer and publisher Fire Totem Games, has released another teaser on their official Twitter account. It showcases an area from Level 2 with palm trees amid a vast desert.
In A Webbing Journey, an adorable little spider journeys across a variety of islands, in search of flowers to give to their date. Players will need to build webs and swing from them to solve puzzles and explore.
A Webbing Journey doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s expected to launch this year. There are plans for a PC, Linux, and Nintendo Switch release. Here’s the new teaser from Fire Totem Games’ feed:
While those with arachnophobia may not enjoy this one, I have always loved spiders. I even grew up with tarantulas for pets now and then. So, it was a delight to discover A Webbing Journey, which combines a cozy art design with some terrific web mechanics.
The physics in A Webbing Journey continue to impress with today’s glimpse. There’s a great sense of momentum, speed, and freedom that’s remarkably similar to Spider-Man titles.
A proper sense of movement goes an extraordinarily long way for an indie, when many AAA games can feel pretty stiff. Ideally, swinging and climbing in A Webbing Journey will have intuitive controls that feel as comfortable as they look.
The oasis and palm trees are definitely a great addition to the desert level, and such areas would certainly open the door for more interesting puzzle opportunities.
The oasis boasts all of the same colorful, comic book-style personality as previous teasers. There are many other potential areas in such a biome, so it would be neat to see other areas later on.
A Webbing Journey is a very cute indie that explores a fun, playful twist for platforming without relying on nostalgia.
