Firesiege, a new co-op fantasy and tower defense tabletop game from Deer Games Studio, has revealed new cover art and faction details in yesterday’s update from the official Gamefound page.
In Firesiege, players work together using limited communication to defend your city’s leader from a siege. You’ll need to complete quests with unique objectives to halt the siege, playing two-sided action cards that include helpful commands you can see, and consequences on the shadow side that you can’t.
Firesiege is set in the same fantasy universe as the devs’ previous game Feralis: Obscure Land. There’s currently no campaign launch date for Firesiege, but the devs were “considering a month of Q4” in August, according to a comment reply on the Gamefound page.
Here’s a brief game teaser from the Deer Games Studio YouTube channel:
Firesiege cleverly borrows similar elements from its predecessor Feralis, particularly in its two-sided cards. Originally reserved for creatures in Feralis, giving action cards a shadow side is an imaginative way to make your decisions feel more impactful.
It also emphasizes the delicate balance of risk and reward, and unpredictability, both of which are interesting aspects of battle to explore. Firesiege appears to be faster and smaller in scope than Feralis: Obscure Land, to its benefit.
The game definitely distinguishes itself from Feralis, and it even looks more conceptually inspired. The quest mechanic is a smart way to add replay value and make each battle feel story-driven.
The components look fairly detailed, and the spiral citadel is undeniably eye-catching. But the broader art design might seem a little generic for some, and the Generals’ roles are also pretty standard.
Firesiege promises a catchy gameplay loop with some neat twists on classic tower defense. Between limited communication, multi-tasking, and two-sided cards, there’s a terrific sense of battlefield chaos and urgency.
