Time Survivors, an indie roguelike that throws historical figures like Cleopatra, Lincoln and Tesla into outrageous action, has just released a new gameplay trailer. It showcases key characters, their abilities, boss fights and more.
In Time Survivors, players will travel through time in order to unravel a mystery, battling dinosaurs, medieval skeletons and more with over a hundred weapons and items.
The game will feature short, casual runs and a sandbox mode. You can watch today’s new trailer in a post from the game’s official feed:
Developed and published by Lunar Chili, the full version of Time Survivors will be available on PC and is expected to release “by the end of 2023”, according to the latest Steam post.
Time Survivors: Chapter 0, a follow-up to the prologue that is not the full game, will release next week on September 18th.
Time Survivors has a terrific premise, and today’s trailer wisely boasts about its brilliant absurdity. While the strangeness and humor may not appeal to everyone, there’s clearly effort behind the gameplay and abilities. As a result, Time Survivors doesn’t seem too gimmicky.
The abilities for each character are slick, visually appealing translations of their unique personalities and skills. Tesla’s kit might not be too surprising, but it also looks the most satisfying. Players who enjoy this kind of outlandish fun will likely be rewarded.
However, there’s been plenty of historical fiction, particularly with time travel, so hopefully the central mystery will be distinguishable.
The sandbox mode’s opportunity to practice will make the game more accessible for those who normally avoid tense roguelikes. Also, the play sessions will be surprisingly short and casual.
A free demo for the full version is expected at the end of this month, which should give players a clearer idea if the devs can muster controlled chaos for full release.
