Bish Bash Bots, a cute tower defense indie mixed with brawling elements from developer CATASTROPHIC_OVERLOAD and publisher Firestoke, has just released a new trailer featuring gameplay with the central heroes.
In Bish Bash Bots, robots revolt against humanity, and a rag-tag group must journey across a variety of biomes to reset them. Players will need to defend against waves of bots by placing and upgrading turrets, unlocking new tech, and brawling.
Last week, Bish Bash Bots announced a launch date for October 19th, 2023, and also released an official demo on its Steam page.
The full game will be available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. You can watch today’s new gameplay trailer on the developer’s YouTube channel here:
The visuals in Bish Bash Bots are well-polished and really pop, resembling a Saturday morning cartoon. This makes it friendly towards younger players. So, it was smart to support both online and couch co-op for families and friends.
Although Bish Bash Bots has a simple gameplay loop, the brawling twist is a fun hook. Button-mashing is used throughout the gameplay, from upgrading turrets to triggering the EMP at the end of a match.
This creates an arcade tone, and it’s nice for younger audiences. They can run around to help smash things and recover destroyed parts, while the older players manage strategy and turrets.
The brawling aspect of the game will particularly shine because the enemies navigate dynamically. Swarms of unique enemies can be shoved around, allowing players to herd or deflect them, which is very satisfying.
The demo was incredibly easy to pick up. It’s a simple game, so it might wear out its welcome over time. But it has a touch of novelty, a playful tone that should please just about anyone, and controls that are both responsive and intuitive.
