Sci-fi adventure The Invincible sets November release date in new trailer

The Invincible, a sci-fi indie from developer Starward Industries and publisher 11 bit studios, will officially launch on November 6th, 2023. The announcement comes with a new trailer featuring gameplay and cinematics, including mysterious narration and disaster.

In The Invincible, players assume the role of astrobiologist Yasna, who searches for missing crewmates on the unexplored planet Regis III. Players must explore and make difficult decisions in an “atompunk atmosphere”.

The Invincible will be available on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG. It will also release on Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation 5. You can watch today’s date reveal trailer on the 11 bit studios YouTube channel:

The Invincible is a proudly ambitious game. It has impeccable style, unusually polished graphics, and promises a narrative that strives for the profound.

Today’s trailer resembles the trailer for the original Alien, playing things close to the chest (ahem) with escalating danger. The footage doesn’t reveal much, but each new trailer continues to hint that the devs haven’t lost a sense of entertainment in exchange for lofty ideas.

The Invincible’s emphasis on philosophy and morality will definitely appeal to hardcore sci-fi fans. The game’s official Steam page notes that The Invincible is “based on the motifs” of the classic novel by Polish author Stanisław Lem.

This creates a strong foundation for something that is both sophisticated and relatable. Also, its “atompunk” approach offers an interesting contrast between past and future. This is likely directly tied into The Invincible’s ponderous themes.

Based on the trailers released thus far, The Invincible feels like an indie that takes risks without losing mass appeal. The visuals are absolutely gorgeous and inspired, and the narrative has a very cinematic touch. Hopefully, The Invincible can successfully balance adequate adventure while pursuing so much philosophy.
