In Chicken Journey, players must solve puzzles and complete some light platforming, exploring an adorable world to uncover the answer to a familiar question: which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Chicken Journey will also be available on PC via Steam, where you can try a demo. Here’s a brief gameplay trailer from loonyware’s YouTube channel:
Chicken Journey’s central hook is its wholesome, positive mood. The game has an undeniably cute theme, art design, and even an amusing premise.
Some players are almost certain to be taken aback by the simplicity. There probably won’t be very much content, and it’s hardly aiming to reinvent the genre.
However, that simplicity is actually one of its core tools in crafting a peaceful experience. Chicken Journey comes off as a pocket-sized adventure set in the world of Stardew Valley, but from the point of view of one of your favorite chickens.
According to the Steam page, there will be no combat at all. The puzzles look relatively simple and familiar. Even the music is both soothing and upbeat.
Exploration seems to be the primary delight, as players get to discover new areas and characters. There’s also a friendly sense of humor, particularly in its dialogue among the townsfolk.
It’d be nice to see more content and distinguishable features, but it’s best to reserve judgment until launch. There’s a clear and well-defined vision for this game, and it is certain to make you smile.
It’s terrific that Chicken Journey is coming to another platform, and hopefully the wider audience helps the devs pursue further titles.
