Hide-and-Seek indie debut “We Hidden” sets July Kickstarter launch

We Hidden, an upcoming multiplayer hide-and-seek game featuring adorable chameleons from solo developer and publisher Peakpineapple, has announced plans to launch on Kickstarter on July 11th, 2023.

In We Hidden, players try to hide or seek in a unique, hand-drawn biome as chameleons, using special abilities and the environment to their advantage. There will also be multiple game modes, such as Jailbreak and Home Base.

We Hidden will be the debut title for Peakpineappale, and is expected to release on mobile devices and PC via Steam. Here’s the new Kickstarter announcement tweet, which includes a brief teaser trailer:

We Hidden looks like a relatively simple game, playing on familiar mechanics that you might see in the likes of Prop Hunt. However, there are a couple of different modes to choose from, and the art design will undoubtedly catch your attention.

It was a wise decision to put the 2D artwork front and center in the trailer accompanying today’s tweet. The animation is instantly charming, and the central chameleons have a lot of personality. Their design feels both minimalist and slightly askew, in an appealing and cartoonish way. This leans into the game’s cuteness and humor.

It would be genuinely fun to earn cosmetics for these chameleons. The various hats or outfits that have been revealed already look pretty creative, and many of them feel larger than life.

The environments currently look a little empty, and it seems like it would be tough to successfully hide, though it may actually be balanced that way. Also, the individual objects and flora have some great details.

We Hidden demonstrates a lot of effort, and draws plenty of intrigue out of something very simple, thanks to some neat little abilities and familiar modes. It’d be terrific to see art design this thoughtful and fun in even more complex work.
