Drova – Forsaken Kin, an upcoming action-adventure RPG inspired by Celtic mythology from developer Just2D and publisher Deck13, will officially launch in 2024 according to a new gameplay trailer. An exact release date was not confirmed.

In Drova – Forsaken Kin, you’ll join a faction to survive a dangerous open world where the spirits that govern nature have become exploited and angered. Players can influence the direction of the story, and use abilities to build their own combat style.

Drova – Forsaken Kin will be available on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox and PlayStation. Here is today’s gameplay trailer from Deck13’s YouTube channel:

Drova – Forsaken Kin has some pretty pixel art, but it is undoubtedly the Celtic theme that will fascinate you. There are plenty of grim dark RPGs, but cultural influences are certain to provide invaluable new context.

This approach guarantees some level of originality, for both the world and the characters, including their unique views, stories, and environments.

There is also great potency, with a deep history that many will likely be unfamiliar with. This often creates an informative tone, sparking interest in the broader culture.

Drova – Forsaken Kin has expertly selected its references, and the grim dark genre feels like a natural fit rather than being shoehorned for popularity’s sake. The resulting visuals look very stylish, with a consistent aura of ancient mystery.

Today’s trailer smartly wields silence. It emphasizes a solemn tone and prioritizes all of its sound effects, which add a gritty and Earthy texture. The music is carefully reserved and paced, and it definitely reinforces Drova – Forsaken Kin’s somber, desperate world.

While the combat in today’s trailer looks a little straightforward, the briefly revealed inventory seems flexible. It would’ve been nice to see dialogue and learn more about the narrative, but there’s plenty of time before launch.
