For a look at some actual gameplay from a previous version, here’s the trailer that is currently being used on the game’s official Steam Page:
Spheriums is being developed by just two people. Given that context, Spheriums has been moving along at a healthy pace, and its new mechanics are surprisingly ambitious.
Dynamic weather and adaptive music are both challenging systems, but realistic environments will drastically improve immersion. Similarly, the sound effects have been overhauled, which also create a closer sense of interaction.
Spheriums seems deliberately built for newcomers, with straightforward lore, action, and progression. That’s fine, since the game seems likely to excel at that. But it does put more emphasis on the visuals.
Fortunately, the worlds of Spheriums already have some terrific spectacle, and the way it toys with geometry is pretty interesting. Every piece of terrain or technology seems to have its own distinguishable silhouette.
The sheer volume of content in Spheriums is most impressive. It genuinely feels as if every corner of its worlds have something to discover.
Today’s official update post also mentions a variety of quality-of-life changes, and additions that are coming soon. This includes finishing up the tutorial, and now an opening cut scene is expected, which should definitely improve the player’s motivation and investment.
Although launch is still far away, Spheriums is worth keeping an eye on. Be sure to support the devs during Early Access.
