Limerick: Cadence Mansion, an upcoming first-person horror and puzzle indie from developer and publisher Jenito Studios, will officially be featured in Steam Next Fest. The event begins on June 19th, 2023, at 10 AM pacific time, and will run through June 26th, 2023.
In Limerick: Cadence Mansion, players will need to explore a mysterious mansion, solving challenging puzzles and escaping a variety of terrifying horrors.
A release date still hasn’t been confirmed, but the game is still expected to launch this year. It will be available on PC via Steam, where you can wishlist the game or try the demo now.
Limerick: Cadence Mansion also released its very first gameplay trailer earlier this week, which you can review on the Jenito Studios YouTube channel:
To begin with, this trailer itself is superbly crafted. Its pacing smartly balances escalation and exposition. And the music hints at a very compelling soundtrack, which is always helpful to keep players on edge. Although, the trailer does reveal perhaps a bit too much.
The in-game sounds make another big impression. The effects are finely tuned for fundamentals like the weather and footsteps, and even smaller details like the heavy breathing and interactive objects seem unusually crisp.
Further, the audio design is fairly creative for the enemies, which is essential for an otherworldly setting. Distortions in the familiar are innately upsetting, but fortunately, none of the characters seem too corny.
Their visuals range from the conventional to delightfully bizarre. And while some of the enemy graphics are also less impressive than others, all of the environments are surprisingly polished and complex. The game also has an impeccable eye for lighting, moody and cryptic enough to complement the puzzle mechanics.
Steam Next Fest is truly a big step forward, so hopefully it helps build the audience that Limerick: Cadence Mansion deserves.
