“Baker Street Breakouts”, a Sherlock puzzler, sets May Kickstarter launch

Baker Street Breakouts, an upcoming Sherlock Holmes-themed adventure game with escape room elements, will officially join Kickstarter on May 22nd, 2023. This launch coincides with Sherlock Holmes Day, which celebrates the birthday of beloved author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

In Baker Street Breakouts, developed and published by HiSv Studio, players need to solve a series of riddles and puzzles to escape 10 challenging rooms and unravel a story-driven mystery.

Baker Street Breakouts will be available on PC via Steam, where users can wishlist the game now. Here is today’s big announcement from HiSv Studio’s official Twitter account:

Baker Street Breakouts has a clever, thematic premise. Rather than leading Sherlock through a story that unfolds on its own, it is more of a Sherlock simulator.

The core mechanics will challenge the players themselves to observe clues, make connections, and think quickly. This is sure to boost immersion, but some balancing could be needed. In order to avoid redundancy, the narrative will need to be potent enough, and the escape rooms should evolve or escalate naturally.

Thus far, the trailers do look encouraging. You can watch a full gameplay trailer on the HiSv Studio YouTube channel:

It’s appreciated that the trailer above includes a couple of characters. It is often equally entertaining when Sherlock makes deductions about people and their character, and not only physical clues. Although, Baker Street Breakouts does have an impressive range and volume of objects to consider.

The art design is decidedly retro, but that does fit with the casual tone. It doesn’t seem like Baker Street Breakouts means to take itself very seriously, which is likely for the better. There are fun literary references, cute environments, and some amusing dialogue.

Baker Street Breakouts is clearly another passion project with promise, so be sure to visit the official Kickstarter page and support HiSv Studio.
