Bunspecht Games, the indie game studio hailing from Cologne, Germany, has officially become “Critical Rabbit”. This is only a cosmetic change for the name and design, as the same developers will still be involved. Critical Rabbit made the big announcement via Twitter today:
As Bunspecht Games, the developers may be known for Fall of Porcupine, an upcoming story-driven adventure game that surprisingly explores healthcare.
Published by Assemble Entertainment, Fall of Porcupine is expected to launch sometime this year on PC and all major consoles. A prologue titled Last Days of Summer serves as a free prologue, available now on all platforms. You can watch a trailer for the demo on Critical Rabbit’s YouTube channel:
Fall of Porcupine’s demo alone is quite remarkable. The developers have meticulously built a playful, adorable world with gorgeous scenery atop a very serious thematic foundation.
This is the only truly effective way to combine discourse and genuine entertainment, so players shouldn’t be worried about approaching this game just because of the premise. Rest assured, there’s plenty of fun to be had.
The characters and colorful environments are so lovable, and that should actually play a large role in your concern and interest. The narrative is innately compelling, both emotional and sincere.
Like so many indies, Fall of Porcupine wears the passion project boldness on its sleeve for the better.
Now that the developers have been rebranded as Critical Rabbit, the name should be more accessible and recognizable. The new logo is also an improvement. The rabbit is more cheerful, and its hand-drawn appearance better emphasizes an indie attitude.
Rebranding was surely a difficult and challenging decision, so be sure to show your support for Critical Rabbit following the transition. I definitely look forward to seeing how their new journey as Critical Rabbit unfolds.
